Age-Friendly Manitoba The Seniors Resource Network supports Age Friendly Manitoba led by the Seniors & Healthy Aging Secretariat. To make communities in Manitoba more age-friendly, the Government of Manitoba has partnered with several senior organisations, the Centre on Aging, the Association of Manitoba Municipalities, and the Manitoba Chambers of Commerce. These partners are essential to creating age-friendly communities that will ensure the participation, health, independence and security of older persons and contribute to healthy aging in Manitoba. The goal of Age-Friendly Manitoba is simple: To make Manitoba the most age-friendly province in Canada. See other Age-Friendly resources.
Currently, the following three rounds of communities from across Manitoba are actively engaged in Age-Friendly Manitoba. Some of these communities have received Community Consultations through the University of Manitoba’s Centre on Aging’s Community-University Research Alliance (CURA) funding program. Manitoba’s Age-friendly communities are developing action plans and programs to address some of the physical and social issues in their respective communities, thus striving to become more age-friendly.
