A non-profit organization, Services to Seniors, is available to support living for seniors and people with disabilities. With funding through the Assiniboine Regional Health Authority, the focus is on wellness. The services available are:
housecleaning
window washing
transportation
shopping
laundry
meal preparation
hairdressing
errands
foot care
pet care
vacation home checks
minor home maintenance
seasonal work such as yard work and snow removal
filling out forms
respite
Fees are paid directly to service providers by the client. The coordinator also arranges new equipment loans for tub chairs, walkers, raised toilet seats, soakers, loud telephones, canes, and assists with Emergency Response Information Kits (ERIK) and organizes congregate meals for seniors.
Minnedosa and District Services to Seniors (MDSS) is continually looking for volunteers and service providers to assist with this program. Please contact Melissa Marchischuk at 867-5190 or email seniors@mts.net for further information.
A seniors centre is located in the downtown area, 55+ Senior's Activity Centre, providing recreational and social activities. It is open 1:30 - 4:30 pm Monday, Thursday and Saturday. All seniors are welcome.
