What Kind Of Services Are Available?
Service to Seniors provides services in the basic living category such as meals, transportation, home maintenance, telephone reassurance, social and recreational activities. In most instances, you will be expected to pay for the service provided.

Service to Seniors services are not to be confused with the Continuing Care program services which are available if you have been assessed as eligible for care by the Continuing Care Case Coordinator at 242-2656.

Who May Access Services For Seniors?
Services are provided to any senior living within the rural municipality of Pembina including the villages of Manitou, La Riviere, Darlingford and Snowflake.

Why Would I Use These Services?
Any senior who wishes to live independently in his/her own home is encouraged to use the Service to Seniors program. Continuing Care users may wish to access additional services from the Service to Seniors program.


What Services Are Available?

TRANSPORTATION
Need a ride somewhere? If you would like to travel by car, we will connect you with a volunteer who will take you to your destination, wait for you and return you to your home. You will pay mileage.
We also organize tours to special events.

EQUIPMENT RENTAL
Need a wheelchair, walker, or similar equipment? We can provide you with such items at reasonable rates. Call us for more information.

HOME MAINTENANCE
Do you need someone to do housecleaning, yard work, snow removal, washing, ironing, or mending? Call to get a list of folks who will make your work disappear in no time.

FRIENDLY VISITING
Like someone to check in with you on a regular basis? Let us know so we can arrange someone to drop in or give you a call. (no charge)

LIFELINE
Worried about what you will do if you slip and fall and need help immediately? Consider our electronic surveillance LIFELINE service which summons help whenever you need it.

CONGREGATE MEALS
Join us at noon Monday & Friday at the KINSMEN HAVEN and Tuesday at PEMBINA MANITOU PLACE for a tasty and nutritious home-cooked meal. Call by 4:00 PM the day before to book your meal.

LENDING LIBRARY
An extensive library of books and videos are available at the Service to Seniors desk. Many of the topics deal with issues facing older adults.

INFORMATION
Any questions or concerns about issues related to seniors? Just call and Jacqui will do her best to put you in contact with people who can answer your questions.
We also have INTERNET so let us know if there is information you need.

Other Community Services
Call and let us set up any of the following services for you.

• Handivan - Call 242-2744 and ask for Kathy Klassen to arrange your ride.
  
  
• Footcare - We can put you in touch with qualified practitioners to “keep your toes a-hoppin”.
  
  
• Bathing - Relax in a wonderful whirlpool bath at the Pembina Man itou Health Centre and get rid of those aches and pains.
  
  
• Meals on Wheels - Order a hot nutritious meal delivered to your door from the Pembina Manitou Health Centre six evenings a week.
  
  
• Palliative Care - Looking for support for your family member or a friend? Call Rosalind Sims at 242-2744 to set up volunteer support.
