The service to seniors program is designed to provide assistance for seniors who want to live more independently.
For who are these services available?
Seniors residing in the R.M. of Piney.
FEE FOR SERVICE PROGRAMS LIFELINE:
Personal Response System. All will feel an added sense of security and independence with it. A monthly fee is charged.
TRANSPORTATION SERVICE:
Fee for mileage, to and from medical appointments, shopping, etc.—locally and to Roseau, Steinbach, Winnipeg.
FOOT CLINIC:
Service designed to maintain healthy feet. Appointments can be made by calling the office. Available in Sprague and Piney.
HANDY HELPER:
Fee for service workers are available to assist with yard maintenance, house cleaning, etc.
CONGREGATE MEAL PROGRAM:
Provides nutritional meals for seniors at a minimal cost, three times a week. Middlebro, Sprague, Piney.
ADULT DAY PROGRAM:
Held once weekly and includes activities and crafts for seniors including a meal. Mondays in Sprague.
FREE SERVICES (With help of a Volunteer) TELEPHONE/REASSURANCE PROGRAM:
Program matches volunteers with seniors that would like to have a daily phone call and check up that everything is okay.
FRIENDLY VISITOR PROGRAM:
Friendly volunteers donate one or two hours per week for regular visits to seniors.
MOBILITY EQUIPMENT:
Wheelchairs, electric scooter, walkers, crutches, canes, and bath stools are available. Deposit required.
E.R.I.K. KITS
Its an Emergency Response Information Kit, that has your medical information and you keep it on your refrigerator.
INFORMATION RESOURCE CENTER:
The office has materials for lending, many pamphlets on various topics available. Looking for something we don't have, we will help you access it.
FREE INTERNET ACCESS AVAILABLE:
At the Resource council we have 3 computers connected to high speed for you to use free of charge. Not sure how to use the computer? No problem, we will gladly show you how !!
