What Is The Senior Resource And Why Are We Here? There are seniors (55+) and/or disabled citizens in our Rural Municipality of St. Laurent that may require some form of physical assistance with any of the above noted requests due to poor eyesight, limited mobility, etc. We want and need capable volunteers who can assist these citizens with their various needs. The following are some of the requests that have been asked for:
- one or two hours a week personal visits in or out of their homes,
- sharing enjoyable activities such as playing cards, reading newspapers or books, scrabble, etc.,
- going for walks, doing crafts, or simply sharing a cup of tea or coffee,
- talking to a lonely senior/disabled person who may be isolated due to not having access and/or the freedom to be able to drive.
Services- Friendly Visitor/Telecheck, includes visits to a senior or elder who may be shut in or lonely or just a friendly phonecall or telephone safety checks for the per son who lives alone.
