Community Connections Home
Community Connections facilitates Internet access to community-based programs and services through partnerships with communities, federal, provincial and municipal governments, the not-for-profit and private sectors. With the combined efforts of community groups, social agencies, libraries, schools, volunteer groups and the business community, Community Connections helps Manitobans, wherever they live, take advantage of emerging opportunities in the global economy. There are now just under 600 Public Access Sites at public locations like schools, libraries and community centres act as “on-ramps” to the Information Highway (see "Public Access Sites" at left for the list). Through Community Connections, additional activities, such as computer training and youth development, are supported in the local community to encourage public use of the Internet.

Through an agreement with Industry Canada, Community Connections manages the Communty Access Program (CAP) in Manitoba. For more information about CAP visit Industry Canada's CAP website.

Other countries are now using the Canadian model which is being funded by the Canadian Government , while the Canadian CAP system is being allowed to fade away. The Community Access Program gives all Canadians free access to the internet
