A New and Improved Transcona Council
The Transcona Council for Seniors is pleased to announce that we are once again fully operational. After a busy six month transition and restructuring period we will once again be here to offer Transona's 55+ population the services and programs that they had come to rely on. It is our hope to have all of our services available no later than the end of January. If you should have any questions, or if you would like to learn more about the Council, please call our office at 222-9879. We will be happy to answer any of your questions.

Transcona Congregate Meal Program

The Transcona Council for Seniors will resume sponsoring a hot noon meal three days a week for seniors 55+ living in the community, come the end of January. The meal program provides the opportunity for individuals to have a delicious lunch cooked by a qualified Meal Program Coordinator, at a reasonable price of $5.00. The Transcona Memorial United Church donates the use of their kitchen for the Council to prepare hot noon meals at 209 Yale Avenue West. The meals (soup/salad, entree, dessert and unlimited coffee/tea) are served Monday & Wednesdays @ 4:00 pm and Fridays @ 12:00 noon. Reservations are required and can be done by calling 222-5947 no later than 8:00 am on the day you wish to attend. Phone Jamie at 222-9879 to find out more about the program.

TCS News

The Council distributes a three times a year newsletter called 'TCS News'. This newsletter has information on what is happening in the community, as well as on safety issues, health issues, and other important information valuable to seniors. If you have any ideas for the next issue please let us know by calling the council office at 222-9879.

Advocacy

The Council meets on the first Monday of each month to discuss issues of concern in our community.  For more information, contact the Community Resource Coordinator at 222-9879.

E.R.I.K. (Emergency Response Information Kit)

E.R.I.K. has been developed by a community Advisory Council, established in response to community concerns regarding the availability of adequate information in emergency situations. All area emergency groups have endorsed this program. Once completed, the kit provides the necessary information for emergency personnel to respond quickly to your situation. Go
